Belton started kicking intentionally tonight! His little play gym plays music when the middle toy is pushed just right. He has never been able to get it to play consistently. But tonight, he figured out if he kicks it, he can get it to go! Belton kicked it over and over again and seems quite pleased with his discovery!

Once again, Matt called me in to the bathroom during bath time and said, "look, it's an angel!"
I wonder how many more of these posts I'll end up writing!

My Boys!

I love these two boys!!
(Hey Julia, do you think he's chunky yet? :))

Sitting and Playing..Again

Well, Matt was at it again tonight. Creatively helping Belton "sit on his own" so he can play with his toys from a new angle!
Belton loves looking at that octopus, too! It is one of his favorite toys! (And it was the first baby related purchase that Matt and I made!)
Of course, Matt got Belton to smile for these pictures too. Sweet boys!

Rubber Duckie, You're the One

Bath time has become a little bit more interactive lately, as Belton is getting older! He has started enjoying splashing around, as well as playing with his rubber duckie! :)

Abuela and Abuelo

We went to dinner for Grandma Nini/Abuela's birthday the other day.
I think it's so great that Belton will get to have a relationship with them as well as his other great-grandparents. I don't really remember mine, but I am one of the youngest grandchildren in my family. I am grateful that Belton will have these opportunities!

Matt was giving Belton his bath the other day and called me in to the bathroom.
I walked in, saw this, and Matt said, "It's Superbaby and his cape!"
Oh, I can just imagine the fun these boys are going to have together as Belton grows!

So far, church with Belton is still a great experience! I know it will get much more difficult once he is mobile and always wanting to be on the go. But for now, I want to remember how fun it is to take care of him during church, and how he is pretty much always quiet. But, he doesn't really like the organ! It often wakes him up!

Every time he smiles up at me like this,  my heart melts!

 And check out those eyelashes!!

Happy Boy

Belton is becoming a really happy baby! He loves having his feet kissed, that's what I was doing to get this great smile! We are having so much fun with him!!

Meeting Riley

Belton met his newest "cousin" the other day. She is really Matt's cousin's daughter. Riley was born at the beginning of December, so by next Christmas these two will be running around together! Little ones are so much fun!

Dr. McCants

At my (hopefully) last postpartum visit with Dr. McCants I finally remembered to take a picture of her holding Belton! I can not say enough great things about her! She is wonderful in so many ways!!! And I am still constantly grateful for her listening to the Spirit and saving Belton's life.

Church Outfit

Grandmom and Granddad gave Belton this great church outfit for Christmas. He looked so great in it today!!

He grabbed his elephant when Matt tried to move it out of the way, he is really learning about using his hands lately!!
 Our sweet happy baby!

Yesterday morning, Matt was playing with Belton and he started laughing!
It is so sweet to hear his little giggles!

First Date Post Baby!

Matt and I went on our first date post-baby! It was great! We went to see Les Miserables at the Harbor and then went to Carino's for dinner. We had a great time! And I enjoyed dressing up in a new dress, new shoes, and with my new haircut! We asked Dad to take some pictures of us before we left!
We took a few phone pictures at the fountain outside the theater both before and after the movie.
Thanks so much, Mom and Dad for watching Belton for us! We had a great time!

Belton: Three Months

Our little guy just keeps on growing! He is very sweet and just generally happy to be here! It's so hard to believe that he's already 3 months old, that's a quarter of a year!!

He is very smiley these days (although he wasn't when I took his 3 month pictures!) and LOVES looking at us and smiling back and forth to each other! He coos happily all the time and we spend hours "talking" back and forth to each other. He seems to really know our voices and faces and knows that we are special people in his life!

He has lots of nicknames lately that I want to remember: Little Boy, Sweet Baby, Little Baby Belton, Sweet Boy, Crazy Baby, Squirmy Worm, Little Guy, Lil Bit, Sweet 6 Pound, 7 Ounce Baby Belton

Lately Belton is loving playing patty-cake, "running", looking at books, playing on his play mat, being sung to, bath time, talking, watching Dad dance, putting his hands in his mouth and being held and bounced!

He still gets scared when we lay him flat on his back in an unfamiliar place. (like a changing table at a restaurant) When we do his he puts his arms out and looks around desperately until you hold his hand.

He is still getting better at tummy time, but he doesn't like it very much. He holds his head up pretty well though and wiggles around on his tummy!

Earlier this month, I put him on the ottoman for tummy time and sat next to him during it. He ended up rolling over from his tummy to his back! I decided that it didn't count though, because it was probably easier since he was on the ottoman that isn't exactly flat. A couple of days later, I put him down for tummy time and turned around to get my phone, just in case he rolled I could take a video! When I turned back around, he was on his back!! Since then, I have taken countless videos of him during tummy time, but he hasn't done it again! Silly little boy!

Belton's sleep is still unpredictable. When he was 10 weeks old, he slept like a champ for about a week and a half, and then started reverting back to his old ways! Some nights he and Matt still end up on the couch together, but some nights he stays in his rock n play all night and gives us good 5-6 hour stretches of sleep. It all just depends! He still likes staying up until 11 or 12 despite our attempts to put him to bed earlier. The plus side of this (for me) is that he will often sleep in the morning until 10 or 11, so I have been able to sleep in lately! Naps are a different story though. He will sleep great in the moby. But if we put him down in the rock n play, he will usually wake up within 15 minutes. So, he still takes most of his naps in the moby! But he did graduate out of the newborn hold last week. He is getting to be such a big boy!

Three Months Stats

Weight: 12 pounds, 4 ounces

Length: 23.25 inches
There is no 3 month doctors appointment, so we took him to the post office (after hours) to weigh him on the scale there! We put him down on top of a blanket that weighed 10 ounces, so this picture shows his weight plus 10 ounces! He has gained 2 pounds, 5 ounces this month, and I think it might all be in his cheeks! He is definitely developing the "Tovar cheeks" as they are called! So cute! According to our measurements, he didn't grow any lengthwise this month. But, last month I thought the nurse was a little sloppy when taking his length measurement, and I thought she said he was longer than he really was! He has definitely grown in length, but we just don't know how much!

Matt and I are really enjoying our sweet little boy and we just couldn't love him more! We are so blessed!

Sitting and Playing

Matt's Aunt Jennifer gave us her boppy last week. Yay! We love it! I need to get a new cover for it though, since her little one is a girl, it has a super cute girly cover on it!
Matt decided tonight that Belton needed to sit and play with his toys instead of laying down! He enjoyed it for a little while!

Hand in the Mouth!

This little boy's latest craze is putting his hand in his mouth! Anywhere, anytime, no matter what is going on! If he can get his hand to his mouth, it's there!
