Belton: Five Months

Five Months Stats
Weight: 17 pounds
Length: 25.82 inches
Getting weighed at the post office again!
Belton is five months old today!! He is still a sweet, happy, happy guy! He has started trying to sit up this month. He loves sitting assisted. Lately he gets pretty frustrated when we leave him on his back to play for very long. He just wants to be vertical! But he can't sit on his own yet, which makes for some interesting moments! Sometimes he is quiet as can be, but other times he just talks and talks and makes all kinds of interesting noises. It is so fun to watch him learn new things! He is ticklish on a couple of spots on his tummy. I love that I can get him to giggle frequently by tickling him! His laughter is the best sound ever! Belton loves grabbing his feet and playing with his toes! And he still loves putting everything he can into his mouth. He is a slobbery little guy lately, too! His hands and shirts will just be covered with spit sometimes! Belton is still easily startled by loud or loudish noises. He looks at pictures on the wall or refrigerator when we walk by them in our home. Belton is much more accurate as he reaches for things now. He can hold his toys for a pretty good period of time and loves putting them in his mouth!
Belton is still a good sleeper, and I am SO GRATEFUL for that! He consistently slept 10-12 hours all month except for maybe 2-3 nights. He is still in the rock n play, and we are just going with that until he outgrows it! His naps are still erratic. Once he has been awake for 1.5-2 hours he is mad and sleepy. He rubs hie eyes when he is tired now though, so that helps us know what is wrong. I still often hold him during his naps, or he naps in the swing, car seat or stroller. We still use the moby too, but rarely.
Belton is still wearing 3-6 month clothes and size 2 diapers. But sometimes when he wakes up after 12 hours of sleep he has leaked through his diapers just a little bit. If it becomes a pattern, we may start getting some nighttime diapers. The ones I have found start in size 3!

Belton is a good little eater! He eats 6 ounces every 3 hours, 5 times a day. On Sundays, he often ends up having 6 bottles since we get him up at 7:30 for church and he usually sleeps till 9 or 10! Often he will eat 8 ounces in his last bottle of the day. So, he usually has 32 ounces of formula a day. He has started trying to hold his bottle and often gets both hands on it and holds it up for a little bit! He was diagnosed with reflux this month, after going to a pediatric ENT because of his constant congestion. Now that he is on his reflux medicine (which he HATES and ALWAYS tries to spit out!), his congestion has greatly improved.
Our little guy is always getting better at tummy time, but it's still not his favorite! He has only rolled over a few times, that one night! Crazy baby! I'm sure it won't be long until he is always on the go, though. So I'm counting my blessings! He does scoot a little bit during tummy time sometimes. He has done a complete 360 while on his tummy!

Working so hard to keep that head up!
Belton's favorite things to do right now include, sitting up, playing with Sophie the Giraffe, sitting in the bumbo and playing with his toys, being sung to, looking around at everything when being held, watching Dad be goofy, Mom kissing his tummy, grabbing Mom's hair, soft noises, watching TV (We still don't let him, but he tries!), reading books, talking and cooing, walks with Mom, playing patty-cake, standing with help, bath time, eating anything he can get into his mouth, the swing and playing with the toys on his car seat!

He obviously loves his Mommy and Daddy and that is so sweet! When Matt gets home from work, Belton is always full of smiles for him!
I love how Belton is looking at Matt in this one!
